The band members initially consisted of Limahl (vocals), Nick Beggs (bass guitar), Steve Askew (guitar), Stuart Neale (keyboards), and Jez Strode (drums). The band’s catchy pop tunes, fashion-forward image, and unique sound quickly gained them popularity in the early 1980s.

The band’s name, “Kajagoogoo,” is said to be a variation on a baby’s first sounds and was inspired by a child’s toy. Their music style blended elements of new wave, synth-pop, and dance music, making them a standout act in the British pop scene.
